The team has been bought by Francis Mureithi, who contested for the Embakasi East parliamentary seat in the 2017 general elections, where he lost to Paul Ongili (Babu Owino).

The club’s patron Neel Shah has officially handed over the team to Mureithi with all its assets.

“By a sale agreement dated 10th April 2018 Nakumatt was sold to Mr. Francis Mureithi for value with all its assets and liabilities duly transferred to Mr. Francis Mureithi,” Capital Sport quotes an affidavit on sale of the club.

“That consequently, Mr. Francis Mureithi took over the ownership of the club and neither Nakumatt Holdings under Administration nor myself have any existing or future claims in respect of or against Nakumatt Football Club,” reads the affidavit.

Nakumatt FC has been facing financial challenges with the playing unit not receiving salaries and allowances on time.

The team is currently bottom of the KPL table with 6 points after ten rounds of matches. Nakumatt FC has only won once this season, gotten a draw in three matches and lost six.

The team will play Kariobangi Sharks this weekend. The Sharks are placed 9th on the log with 13 points.
