Kenya Premier League (KPL) side Kakamega Homeboyz have released five of their players as they seek to bolster their squad ahead of the 2018 season.

Leading the departing team is former Bandari,Mathare United,KCB and Tusker defender Athman Buki who was a constant absentee in the team's last fixtures of the 2017 season.

Buki is joined by former AFC Leopards goalkeeper Ali Kesi who has had to endure long spells on the bench despite signing a two year deal with the Kakamega based side.

Also in the list is former Chemelil Sugar hitman Jonathan Mwaniki,Victor Ochieng and Elias Otieno who have all been released by the club.

While confirming the developments, club chairman Cleophas Shimanyula on Thursday  said that the club has since identified replacement for the departing players with most of them expected to come from fellow KPL rivals.

The club's ambitiobs is yo do better next season and we are starting early with the playing unit.At the moment there are four players we have agreed with but their contracts atvtheir respective clubs end at the end of this month so until then we can't share this in public", Shimanyula told Soka.

Homeboyz had an exciting season where they managed to surprise many by finishing fifth on the KPL log.
