Premier League side Sofapaka has assured its fans of massive spending during the December-January transfer window in readiness for the 2018 season.
Batoto Ba Mungu as they are popularly known finished a distant second behind champions Gor Mahia in the just concluded 2017 season and head coach Sam Ssimbwa believes the lack of class hampered their title challenge.
Speaking to a local sports website on Friday, the Ugandan said that as a result Sofapaka would hit the transfer market hard and spend like Spanish giants Barcelona.
We hope to recruit big and I want to use the off-season to scout for players who have the pedigree to play for Sofapaka. We want to take our performance to the next level and as such ,we have to shop for players who will help us realize our aspirations", Ssimbwa told Futaa.com."A big team like Barcelona has been recruiting players ostensibly to perform well and its only in order that we borrow a leaf if we are to make headways in the Kenya Premier League next season", he added.
The 2009 champions mounted a spirited second leg campaign that saw them dislodge pace setters Posta Rangers who enjoyed some relative spell on the second spot.
