Bandari FC players were on Monday caught up in the post election skirmishes that continue to rock several parts of the country.

The team reported that the players and staff were forced to seek refuge at Ahero police station.

Speaking through their Facebook page, they said that players had not been spared as police teargassed protesters.

"Bandari players and staff forced to camp at Ahero police station in Kisumu ahead of tensions as players seek the safety of the police. The players are sneezing and tearful due to the teargas canisters," the team said.

"Pray for our safety and may God heal our country. We shall update you as news beckon," they added.

Last week, both the Football Kenya Federation and Kenya Premier League had decided to postpone top flight and smaller league fixtures due to the political temperatures in the country.

The mid-week matches were however not altered and Bandari will be hoping to overcome the violence trauma when they meet hosts Muhoroni Youth on Wednesday October 1.
