Kenya's only electricity connector and supplier -Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC),is now on limelight over frequent power outages in Kisii town.

Residents of Kisii town have condemned the power giant for everyday electricity interruptions annoying them.

And now residers of Kisii town's Nyankongo allegedly claim they have been surviving on unstable power,reconnected every twelve hours.

"The electricity in this area is annoying and unreliable. They connect it during the day and once it rains they interfere with until the following day.The power blackouts are making it hard for me to read for my examinations scheduled soon," said Maxwell Ontonu,a Kisii University student residing in the area.

"You can't rely on this electricity at all.It's either there or not and this is causing us wrong suffering. The company should investigate to know if there are people behind the disturbing power interruptions," said Janet Nyakundi a tenant in the area.

Elsewhere, Simeon Nyamongo a businessman in Jogoo said he is making loses linked to the systematic power disconnections in the area.

"I run a poshomill that relies on electricity and the outages are causing serious losses," he said.

Locals now want the corporation to identify the causes to the blackouts and fix them.
