Residents in Erebo village, Nyaribari Chache constituency now want the Kenya Power and Lighting Company [KPLC] to visit the area and remove dangerous sagging power cables that feed Kiamokama factory with electricity.
This come shortly after a class 8 pupil was electrocuted after he unknowingly leaned on an avocado that touched the dangling cables.
"The boy died because the avocado touched the wires and it was electrified to kneel on.He was going to see his mum working in a nearby farm when he unknowingly leaned on the deadly avocado that burst into flames. The cables should be disconnected or raised high," said Joshua Omweri, a resider in Eremo.
Elizabeth Kemuma, also a resident of Ekeremo, said the cables dangerously bend so low barely two meters high for human safety.
"They are hanging so close that even a maize crop can touch them which is dangerous.Kiamokana factory and Kplc should jointly find a way to disconnect them before we lose many lives," she said.
The boy was pronounced dead at Keumbu Hospital after his mother and neighbours rushed him to the facility, to rescue him.
