Kenya Airways pilots have threatened to strike.

The pilots say they will strike for 48 hours starting Thursday. They have demanded that the airline’s top manager Mbuvi Ngunze to resign. At the same time, the Kenya Airlines Pilots Association (KALPA) has planned to withdraw all its members to ground the operations of the airline.

The management of the airline has, however, said that this is the second time the pilots have threatened to strike. The management said it is of bad faith and illegal. It revealed that there is communication between the airline and the pilots through the pilot’s body.

The Bobby Group secretary general, Paul Gichinga said that the strike is immediate and not a go slow. He spoke during a press conference on Tuesday. KQ, on the other side, said that the strike notice was very short and called on the pilots to be patient. The airline said that the law only demands a strike notice to be given a week prior the D- day.

On the same note, Ayani residents in Kibera called on the airline to speed up the communication so as to stop the strike from happening.
