After months of restructuring and years of corporate losses national carrier Kenya Airways has reported a Sh3.8 billion loss for the half year period which ended September 30th.

This is down by 20.2% from a loss of Sh4.7 billion which was posted in the same period the previous year.

According to reports, KQ's revenue remained the same at Sh54.5 billion, operating costs were Sh53 billion and operating profit reported a 52% increase to Sh1.4 billion.

Kenya airways cabin factor increased by 5.4% to 76.9% and the number of passengers increased by 3.3% to 2.3 million.

This follows a notice issued by the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE) putting a halt to the companies Sh7.9 billion worth of shares. 

“Notice is hereby given on the suspension in trading of Kenya Airways PLC effective November 15, 2017 up to and including November 28, 2017. The suspension is to facilitate the share split and simultaneous consolidation of the company’s shares which forms part of the Kenya Airways PLC capital transaction,” the NSE said in a notice as reported by The Standard.
