National carrier Kenya Airways has appealed a Sh184 million award to its ex-finance head after a court ruled that he had been unlawfully dismissed. The development marks a sharp escalation in the legal tussle between KQ and Alex Mbugua.A high court ordered the troubled airline to either reinstate Mbugua or give him four years worth of salary. The ex-finance chief was fired over alleged poor performance. KQ's decision means that the case will now proceed to the Court of Appeal. The appeal is scheduled to be heard on Wednesday, November 29 as ordered by the appellate court.Mr. Mbugua claimed that his dismissal was effected as part of a sophisticated scheme to hide the looting at Kenya Airways. An Employment and Labour Relations court ruled that Mr. Mbugua was never given a just hearing prior to his dismissal.
