The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has embarked on a revenue recovery process through the annual public auction of uncollected goods at the Mombasa Port.

The tax body has given a 30-day amnesty for those with goods at the port.

While granting a 30-day amnesty, KRA says numerous imports destined for Kampala Uganda are among goods worth millions of shillings at the Authority’s yard.

In the first phase of the auction, the tax body auctioned goods impounded due to tax evasion in accordance with section 42 of the East Africa community customs management act.

Among the goods auctioned included 430 packages of surgical gloves imported by National Medical Stores of Entebbe Uganda.

The second phase to be conducted on 17th January will involve second-hand motor vehicles.

KRA in a Gazette Notice stated that unless the goods which had overstayed at the Port are entered and removed from the custody of the Customs Warehouse Keeper, Kilindini, within 30 days of the notice, they will be sold.
