The Kenya Revenue Authority has netted an assortment of illegal goods worth Sh12.5 million in Busia County.

KRA officers stationed at the Busia border say the products which included various brands of alcohol and beauty products were in transit from Uganda and lacked proper documentation.

The Kenya Revenue Authority says it remains confident that it will seal loopholes to curb revenue loss as well as facilitate legit cross-border trade.

The officers intercepted a cache of contraband goods worth 12.5 million shillings which included a variety of alcoholic drinks and beauty products.

The officers say the goods were in transit from Uganda and lacked proper documentation.

The owner of the contraband cache, as well as its distribution outlet in Kenya, is yet to be identified. The officers are calling for improved security along popular smuggling routes to curb the vice.
