Nakuru Senator James Mungai has assured the people of Naivasha that a farming project will be launched and it will be aimed at improve the food security within Naivasha.
"If our land is fully utilised, Naivasha can be one of the best food producers in the country ", Mungai said.
Speaking in Naivasha town yesterday, Senator Mungai said that a Ksh. 700 million farming machinery centre will be opened in Naivasha.
"The machines will include; tractors, road maintenance equipments and combined harvesters", Mungai told farmers.
He added that the project was set to kick of in January 15 and the farmers will be required to pay a small fee which will be used in the maintenance of the machineries.
Mungai added that he wanted to bring more investors to Naivasha so that they can fully utilise the farming industry in the town.
"We want to ensure that Naivasha is fully advanced in different techniques of farming. We want to produce food for the country and in so doing, we will be improving the standard of living of the people of Naivasha and also improving the development in our town", Mungai said.
