Kiambu County Government has started to construct a dam at Kimunyu in Gatundu South that will cost the government Ksh. 9 Million.

Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has said that the dam is aimed at helping the farmers to boost farming in the area.

At the same time the governor has announced that his government will give loans to the farmers to enable them to buy and construct the greenhouses.Construction of an abbatoir has also been launched in the area.

"We want this dam to be of benefit to the farmers living here. With plenty of water, we will also help the farmers buy green house materials through loans", said Kabogo.

He added: "There will also be expert advice so that you will have no problem in greenhouse construction and maintenance.

All the youth and women groups are welcome to take the low interest loans to effect the same". The governor who was speaking in Kimunyu yesterday said that the area should have not less than twenty green houses by the end of next year.
