Kenya is among over 10,000 exhibitors showcasing her tourism products in Africa`s leading tourism fair Indaba to be held in Durban South Africa this week.
Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) is leading over 10 companies from travel and hotel industry for the three-day long exhibition at Indaba, South Africa from May 7 to 9.
The exhibition comes at a time when the country is enjoying peace that has given a fresh breath to the industry that had been faced with myriad of challenges in the recent past.
KTB Acting Chief Executive office Jacinta Nzioka-Mbithi says the exhibition will provide a platform for the country to drive the message of a new business environment after numerous government initiatives to boost tourism numbers from emerging and source markets.
“With the new initiatives to promote travel to our country, Indaba will be best suited to extensively promote our fascinating tourism offerings and world-class hospitality services to the region and the world besides highlighting this destination as an investment hub and its other facets.
We will also be taking full advantage of this opportunity to reach out to industry players and members of the media from across the world in a bid to increase our database from the travel trade.” She said
Indaba Travel Expo, showcases the widest variety of Southern Africa's best tourism products, and attracts international visitors and media from across the world. The expo has in the past won the award for Africa’s best travel and tourism show, presented by the Association of World Travel Awards.
Tourism PS will represent Kenya during the ministerial round table meeting involving over 18 tourism ministers from Africa for Interactive discussions on future initiatives around Africa as a tourism destination.
Exhibitors to the Indaba 2016 from Kenya include; Serena Hotels, Heritage Hotels, Leopard Beach Resort and Spa, Safari Park Hotel and Casino, Ashnil Hotels, African Horizons, Southern Cross Safaris, Private Safaris and Nairobi County.
Recently, Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala led the Kenya tourism sector to the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) - world’s largest tourism trade show in Berlin Germany and the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) - leading global event for the Middle East inbound and outbound travel industry, where he announced government incentives to spur tourism as well as held meetings with key tour operators to drum support for increased market share for Kenya.
