After a wedding ceremony, freedom and open spaces are naturals but for one Joy Doreen Biira, the opposite happened.
The KTN journalist was arrested on Sunday when a military fight broke out in Kasese town in Uganda.
The anchor's mother says her daughter's whereabouts are still unknown.
Biira was allegedly arrested after circulating photos and videos of the attack on social media.
She was in Uganda, her home country, for her traditional wedding ceremony. She was taken in alongside her fiancé Newton Kungu.
Uganda's Daily Monitor reported that the police arrested Biira and her fiancé after raiding her uncle’s home which is located in the troubled region.
"Continued gun shots in Kasese town Just metres away from @Omusinga's neighbourhood," Biira tweeted after which she was taken into custody.
Her arrest has caused an uproar in the country with journalists and her fans demanding her immediate release.
Chaos erupted in Uganda when royal guards protecting King Charles Wesley Mumbere of the Rwenzururu kingdom attacked patrolling security forces. The unrest has left over 55 people dead.
The Agence France-Presse (AFP) quoted police spokesman Andrew Felix saying: "We took time to talk to the king to get those people out but the king was non-compliant. The only option was to storm the palace and get those people out and get him out for his own security and safety."
