The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has registered an increase in number of students being enrolled to government institutions through its program across the country for the past one year.

According to Placement Service CEO John Muraguri, over 36,000 students were enrolled to various public Colleges and Universities last year compared to 12,000 students in the previous year.

Speaking to the press at the Rift Valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI) in Eldoret, Thursday, Muraguri said the Placement Service has helped enhance the country's cohesion as students are enrolled to study in institutions spread all over the country.

"Today, students in our institutions are from all over the country unlike in the past where institutions would only enroll from the surroundings," noted Muraguri.

"This helps in cohesion and integration as a student from Coast will study in the same room with a student in Nyanza or Rift valley making our young people to appreciate each others diversity," he added.

The Placement Service CEO further said enrollment of students from all over the country to public institutions helps in nurturing culture.

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (Placement Service) is established as a State Corporation under Section 55 of the Universities Act No. 42 of 2012 with its functions being to, among others co-ordinate the placement of Government Sponsored Students to Universities and Colleges.
