The franchise chain of restaurants, Kenchic Inn is a household name.
It brings back childhood memories of fried chicken and chips.
The chicken served in either quarter, half or full was popularly dubbed as ‘kuku sama’.
Just like their tag line, they made many of us "kuku about chicken."
For decades, Kenchic Inn has been offering an affordable fast food experience to Kenyans, with many outlets around the country - including Nakuru.
In fact, where fast food chains are concerned, it is believed that Kenchic Inn was the most prevailing in Nakuru.
Once, it was the Kenya’s largest fast food chain but new entrants have brought about intense competition.
As from March 31, 2016, Kenchic Limited will no longer use the brand Kenchic Inn.
This means that fast foods joints with the Kenchic colours and logo will either have to close down or look for alternative names.
However, Kenchic Ltd will still continue with its core business of rearing and selling chicks and chicken.
As this iconic fast food joint bows out of the rapidly evolving fast food market, it will be interesting to see other players come on board in Nakuru.
