He said this will enhance healthy competition among schools.

"Through ranking it will be easy to know how a school is performing compared to other schools in the county, thus everyone will work hard to be at the top which will improve education standards," he said.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Maiyo said after the government banned ranking, schools have been performing poorly.

"Ranking examination results is a a source of positive competition, motivation, rewarding and also provides important guidelines to perform better," he said.

He added that it also helps the government and educationists identify areas for improvement.

Wednesday, the National Assembly passed a motion sponsored by Kiminini member of parliament Chris Wamalwa seeking to reintroduce ranking in schools in terms of category of infrastructure, facility and staffing.
