The Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has disagreed with the Education CS Fred Matiang'i over his remarks putting primary school head teachers in the front line hailing them for this year's remarkable Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination results.

Addressing the media after the results were released on Monday, the union chairman Omboko Milemba pointed out that the CS's congratulations were misplaced maintaining that the achievement was a collaborative one reached as a result of the union of each and every teaching staff.

He however hailed the school heads for good management and conduct of the institutions before and during the exams.

''Although the headteachers must receive due for properly maintaining and ensuring that the candidates were well prepared for the examination, the results came from a collaborative job between all the teachers in our schools,'' he said.

On his side,Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Session attributed the same to full consideration from the government.

''There has been an enhanced teacher recruitment in our schools and this too has largely contributed in good results being recorded this year,'' said Sossion who also doubles up as a nominated member of parliament.

The results announced Monday saw an increase of over 400 mark scorers and a decline in those who scored below 100 marks.
