KUPPET Nakuru branch now want the Ministry of Education to conduct the Form One selections afresh saying that it was unfair and marred with a lot of discriminations.
The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) officials maintain that selection of students ought to have been based on merit and not the school where a pupil came from.
"We have situations where pupils who scored less than 300 marks have been admitted to national schools while the ones who scored more than 400 marks have been admitted to sub county schools. This is totally unacceptable," said Sammy Kambo, KUPPET Nakuru branch Chairman.
Speaking on Wednesday, Kambo said that the move will undermine education standards in the country.
"Parents and all other education stakeholders have failed to understand what formula Prof Jacob Kaimenyi and his team employed to conduct the selections," Kambo added.
They are now calling for the whole excercise to be done away with adding that they are in full support of Kenya Private Schools Association members who have termed the selection as a sham.
