The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has been urged to harmonise teachers house allowances across the county.According to Uasin Gishu County Kenya Union of Post Primary Education of Teachers (Kuppet) secretary general Elijah Maiyo, it is demoralising for teachers working in major towns to earn more allowances than their counterparts in rural areas. "We want teachers house allowances to be uniform whether working in rural or urban," he said in Eldoret town, Tuesday."How can a secondary teacher in job group Q in Nairobi get a house allowance of Sh40,000 while those in towns like Eldoret earn Sh20,000," he added. He however,  urged TSC to promote teachers who have stayed in the teaching profession for ages."It is sad that some teachers have stayed in the same job group for over twenty years despite having masters degree," noted Maiyo.
