The acting Cabinet Secretary for Education Fred Matiangi has been urged to review the time at which school buses are supposed to travel.

The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Uasin Gishu secretary general Elijah  Maiyo said the conditions of having the buses on the road to 6am-6pm care not practical.

“As a union we support Matiang'i on the painting of school buses but we don’t agree on the time at which the buses and vans are supposed to travel on the road because some events end as late as 7 pm, which means students will have to sleep on the road most of the time,” he said in Eldoret town, Monday.

“The cabinet secretary needs to look into this issue because some events are far away and need more than 10 hours of traveling,” he added.

He, however, said they are in support of the head teachers transfers across the country and urged to it positively since transfers are normal and are not meant to punish them.

In the new rules buses are only supposed to travel from 6 am to 6 pm.
