Parents from Kamara Ward, Kuresoi North sub-county have expressed worry over deplorable status of public Primary Schools in the area.
Speaking on Wednesday at Sarambei Location, in the sub-county, the parents said that many public Primary School are in wanting situation.
The parents said that with the introduction of free Primary Education, many schools are crowded and pupils learn in dilapidated classrooms which have neither doors nor windows.
“Some schools have existed for along time with classrooms without doors or windows,” said Kemboi, a parent.
The parents urged the county government through CDF Funds Kitty to improve the standards of education in the area to enable them compete favourably with their counterparts in private schools.
Another parent David Kitur also said that recruitment of teaching staffs and shortage of learning facilities in the area is depressing adding, “Many public Schools do not have enough staff, a situation that is likely to reverse the gains attained in the provision of free education.”
The parents urged the National government to step in and rescue the situation before it gets out of hand.
The situation in most public schools in the area have been in wanting situation after the government banned Harambees for construction of classrooms.
