The residents who held a crisis meeting with the area chief on Tuesday complained that cases of mugging and cattle rustling are rife adding that the government should intervene to address the situation.

Roman Rotich, a village elder told HiviSaSa.com that residents are living in fear of being attacked.

“We want to urge the government to intervene and address insecurity in this area,” he said.

The elder added that there is need for the government to set up more police posts in the area in order to curb crime.

Moses Rono, a resident complained of having lost five sheep and goats two weeks ago when armed men raided his home.

"It’s unfortunate that the government is not interested in addressing our issues,” he complained.

Mr Rono added that despite reporting the matter to the police nothing has been done to recover his animals or apprehend the thieves.

The residents now want the Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo to deploy more officers to curb crime saying that the area needs proper surveillance to deal with criminal gangs that freely operate in the village and neighbouring environs.
