Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria wants former Starehe MP, Margret Wanjiru to deputise Water Cabinet Secretary, Eugene Wamalwa in the race for the 2017 Nairobi gubernatorial seat.
Kuria said the pair of Wamalwa and Wanjiru would easily win the Nairobi gubernatorial seat come next year.
Speaking during the 13th Memorial Service for former vice president, Michael Kijana Wamalwa at his home in Kitale on Tuesday, Kuria said that Central leaders will back the pair of Wamalwa and Wanjiru.
He stated that they (central leaders) want to show that they can support a non-kikuyu.
The MP observed that Wamalwa is the best suited candidate to address challenges facing Nairobi if elected as governor.
“The team that we are confident will take charge of Nairobi is that of Eugene Wamalwa and Bishop Margret Wanjiru, said Kuria.
Speaking at the Memorial Service, Bishop Wanjiru asked for time to consult her supporters on the request of deputising Wamalwa in the Nairobi governor seat.
“‘Let me consult my people just as Eugene has consulted his people,” said Wanjiru.
Last week Bishop Wanjiru denied claims of deputizing Wamalwa saying that she will vie for the seat.
Several other leaders among them Bungoma governor Kenneth Lusaka vowed to back wamalwa’s Nairobi gubernatorial bid.
The race for Nairobi top seat has attracted several politicians with the recent entry of former National Assembly speaker Kenneth Marende.
The incumbent governor Evans Kidero has said that he will defend the seat in next year’s elections.
