Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria maintained that he is still pushing the national government to scrap off the senate and the number of women representative seats.

Speaking at Kiogoro area today while popularising his initiative the Jubilee Punguza Mzigo referendum campaign, the legislator said the government is wasting a lot of resources for positions that have no meaning.

“We have seen the way the government is struggling to get more tax for seats that don’t matter and therefore it’s high time we removed them,” he added.

Kuria calls for the scrapping of the Senate, the Women representatives and all the nominated MCA’s slots scrapped through a proposed constitutional amendments.

He also said the referendum that he moves will affect the county governors who he wants to reduce their number to 17 so that more money can be used in development projects.

The legislator said the tax payer had been left overstretched due to the huge wage bill occasioned by the existence of the four contentious offices.
