He said the MPs behaved in a manner to bring contempt to the presidency and the status of the parliament.

"What the MPs did is a total infamy, disesteem to the Presidency and both the National Assembly and the Senate," said Kuria.

Whistling by opposition lawmakers forced President Uhuru Kenyatta to interrupt the annual State-of-the-Nation Address on Thursday, obliging the parliamentary speaker to restore order.

Speakers of the National Assembly and the senate ruled that the lawmakers were out of order and ordered their ejection from parliament.

At least seven opposition lawmakers were ejected from parliament.

Kuria said disrupting such an important function has brought shame to the country as many diplomats were present.

"Behaving like unruly teenagers in such important annual address by the president which is attended by several dignitaries including diplomats, is a shame to our national pride," said Gatundu South legislator.

Kuria urged Kenyans to treat the said individuals with the same contempt they showed.
