According to Kuria, the attempt to storm Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officers amounts to treason.

Kuria said he has, together with Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu and Dogoretti’s Dennis Waweru, instructed their lawyer to press charges against Odinga, Wetangula and Musyoka.

“Odinga and his friends should know that this country is governed by laws and that they have no reason to use violence to have their issues addressed,” he said on phone.

“We have already instructed our lawyer Kinyanjui to move to court and press charges of treason against opposition leaders,” he said.

The vocal Gatundu South lawmaker said that they will not allow Odinga to cause tension and anxiety in the country.

Kuria said that Odinga and other Cord leaders want to create fear among Kenyans ahead of 2017 elections.

“We are not going to allow Raila Odinga’s thirst for power to spill blood as we head to elections,” he said.

The MP said Cord’s calls to have IEBC disbanded are not genuine.

He said the opposition is using it as a tool to create anxiety and confusion among Kenyans ahead of 2017 polls.

On Tuesday, Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu alleged that Cord was plotting to cause violence in the country.

“These people have already sensed defeat and the only way for them to react is to start causing panic among Kenyans,” he said.
