According to Kuria, the decision by the High Court is against traditions and he views it as an interference with security organs in the country.

Taking to his Facebook page on Saturday, Kuria called on Ouko to decline the offer which he believes is creating a conducive environment for a coup attempt in the country.

"Judiciary has ruled that Auditor General can audit confidential military and security matters. This is against traditions in all jurisdictions. Yet another invitation to interfere with our disciplined forces and create a conducive environment for a coup attempt. To my very good friend and professional colleague Edward Ouko, decline that invitation. You will thank me later," posted Kuria.

On Friday, High Court Judge Chacha Mwita gave the ruling allowing the Auditor General to question how the military and other security organs in the country.

In an article appearing in the Business Daily, Justice Chacha observed that lack of audit of the security organs is against Section 40 of Public Audit Act no 34 of 2015 and sections 4(2), 8, 12, 17(1), 18, 27, 40, 42 and 70,  of the same Act.

The ruling now means that the National Intelligence Service (NIS), the military (KDF) and the National Police Service will have their expenditure scrutinized by Ouko.
