The statement was read out by the president of the association Kipchumba Josphat at the institution whereby they condemned the residents for blocking the development of the institution.

The residents had earlier in the day demonstrated and blocked the Ruiru bypass saying that they have the right to remain in the piece of land.

The students also hauled stones to the Vice Chancellor's motorcade which was on a tour to the land in dispute with the university board members.

The meeting ignited the students who swore to take the law in their own hands if the residents do not vacate from the piece of land.

“We are giving you seven days until next Friday to have vacated from this piece of land otherwise the students of this institution will take the law in their hands and make you vacate from this land,” read the statement in part.

They went on to say that the university will have to develop and the area residents will not stand on the way of development.

The vice chancellor of the institution Professor Olive Mugenda however said that she will talk to her students to wait for the government handles the matter.
