Speaking in Turbo, Uasin Gishu County on Friday, Kutuny said he owes his political prowess to Ruto, with whom he revealed he had forged a long lasting friendship while working together as MPs in the 10th Parliament.

“Deputy President, you are my political mentor. What we did while you were MP for Eldoret North and myself as MP for Cherangany is there for all to see. We worked together and forged a long lasting friendship,” said Kutuny.

The former Cherangany MP recalled how he was Ruto’s 'mtu wa mkono' (handyman), while the latter served as Agriculture Minister, adding that the successes are also visible.

“Your Excellency, you remember when you were Minister for Agriculture and I was your 'mtu wa mkono', you were Minister by day and I was Minister by night and we delivered as expected,” said Kutuny amid laughter.

He exuded confidence that Ruto will ascend to the Presidency in 2022 adding that he has already started scheming on how the Deputy President will win after President Kenyatta retires.

“Don’t worry about 2022, I have closed the 2017 analysis because Uhuru has already won. I have now opened a new chapter called the ‘Ruto Presidency’ and I am shopping for players with me included as a key defense player,” added Kutuny.

“You know I am like an eagle that retreats to a mountaintop to knock off its beak by banging it against a rock, pluck out its talons and feathers to grow new ones and improve flexibility to properly grip prey,” added Kutuny amid cheers.
