Matuga MP Hassan Mwanyoha at a past event. Photo/barakafm.orgJust a day after warning Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho against interfering with Kwale politics, a group of ODM aspirants from the county have now threatened to ditch the party amid claims of favouritism.Led by Matuga MP Hassan Mwanyoha who is also the party chairman in the county and his nominated counterpart Zuleikha Hassan, the leaders claimed that the Orange House and the party's election board have conspired to introduce aspirants through the backdoor."After the nominations submissions deadline, some aspirants have been included and backdated to appear like they submitted the applications before the deadline," said Mwanyoha. However, the chairperson of the ODM elections board Judy Pareno has dismissed the allegations even as he assured the aspirants of a free and fair poll.On her part, Zuleikha accused Kilifi Women Representative Aisha Jumwa and her Mombasa counterpart Mishi Mboko of interfering with Kwale politics. The two leaders' concerns over the state of ODM affairs in the county exposes undercurrents that run deep in the party's leadership in the region that the rival Jubilee Party has been courting of late.Should the disgruntled leaders make good their threats to ditch the Raila Odinga-led outfit, then the party's fortunes in the county will dwindle further as it will be left virtually an empty shell.
