With the ODM nomination exercise within site, aspirants in Kwale County are divided on the method that the party can use to carry out the primaries with one faction rooting for secret ballot while the other supports the mlolongo system.According to the Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori-led faction, only the secret ballot method can guarantee a free and fair exercise and at the same time avert defections which may end up antagonizing the party's perceived stronghold.Kwale County Speaker Sammy Ruwa who is eyeng the Governor seat which is occupied by Salim Mvurya echoed Dori's sentiment saying that with the secret ballot system, unnecessary mistrust among aspirants will be reduced as opposed to the mlolongo system which he says will create discrepancies during the counting of votes. However, Matuga MP Hassan Mwanyoha who is also the ODM chairman in the county is supporting the mlolongo system which he claims will best work for the region which has of late become a battle ground between ODM and Jubilee Party.Just recently, a group of ODM aspirants in the county had threatened to ditch the party if a free and fair nomination exercise will not be conducted.
