The much-awaited ODM primaries in Kwale County which were scheduled for April 11, have been postponed amid concerns over the nomination method to be used.
This comes at a time when the ODM top brass in the county have been embroiled in a row on the most suitable nomination method to be used during the primaries with one faction preferring secret ballot over the mlolongo system.
On Wednesday, the rivalry between the two functions intensified as Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori who is for the secret ballot method clashed with Bongwe-Gambato MCA Omar Idd Boga who is for the mlolongo method.
Boga is expected to challenge Dori for the parliamentary seat.
Boga later confirmed that the nomination exercise which was set for next week has been suspended until the two rival groups agree on the most suitable method to conduct the primaries.
On Monday, Dori who was accompanied by Kwale County Assembly speaker Sammy Ruwa, said that the mlolongo system of nominations is susceptible to discrepancies which may cost the Orange Party seats and support in the region that has been on the Jubilee party radar for sometime now.
However, Matuga MP Hassan Mwanyoha who is also the ODM chairman in the county refuted the claims and insisted that the method is the most suitable.
