Kwale senator Issa Boy has announced that he will contest for the governor seat come 2022.
The lawmaker said that he has what it takes to succeed the incumbent Salim Mvurya, who is continuing with his second term in office. He spoke at his office on Friday.
‘’They will politic in Kinango, Lungalunga, Matuga and Msambweni but as for me I have already expressed my interest in the seat,’’ Senator Issa said.
Kinango MP Benjamin Tayari has also declared interest in the post. He has promised to give his competitors a run for their money when that time comes.
Earlier on, governor Salim Mvurya said he will back his deputy Fatma Achani to ascend to the seat. He insisted that Achani will sail through with ease as long as she has his support during the electioneering period. He spoke during a function in Msambweni.
“Some people are saying Mvurya should keep quiet but I will not. I have prepared my Deputy Fatuma Achani very well to take over. If anybody has prepared their candidates too, let them come forward and tell us.”
The race to succeed Mvurya is expected to be a battle of titans following the interest of different candidates.
