KWS handed over cheque to 13 victims of injury attacks and 4 families who lost a loved as result of wildlife attack.

Speaking in county commissioner’s office KWS Senior Warden Christine Boit said that the money paid was from the National government kitty.

"This was to pay off the last lot as per the old Wildlife Conservation and Management Act in which we were to pay sh.50,000 for injuries and sh.200,000 for death cases," said Boit

She added: "Today we paid Sh 1.5M in total. They were either the beneficiaries or victims of the injuries by wildlife. It was no compensation, you can't compensate for lost life. We gave cheques to console them."

KWS senior warden said that the invite was in line with World Wildlife Festive running from February 28 to March 8, 2015.

She said that KWS mandate is to educate the community to stay in harmony with the wildlife.

"We give education and awareness and how to coexist in harmony with the wildlife," said Boit.
