Kenya Wild Service (KWS) will celebrate Conservation Heroes Day on Saturday 16th December.
KWS will pay tribute to the Kenyan conservation heroes who are both dead and alive.
It will be an avenue for solemn reflection and pride of those who dedicated their lives for environment conservation.
On Saturday, the service, through its communication twitter handle said the heroes to be celebrated were the true patriots and role models to those currently in service, taking care of wildlife.
They immortalized them as true nationalists, whose values were worth emulating.
“The conservation heroes we celebrate today are true patriots and role models to those of us in service, taking care of our wildlife. We immortalize them as true nationalists whose values are worth emulating,” read the tweet.
The celebration was started back in 2005 by Kenya Wildlife Service Board of Trustees and Management, with date 16th December, set aside as the Nairobi National Park; the first national park was gazetted on the same date in 1946.
During every year celebrations, KWS facilitates families of the departed heroes to join other conservation champions to celebrate their lives.
Through the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the International Foundation for Nature (NABU), a Germanic NGO, supports families of fallen heroes, particularly in paying school fees for the orphans.
