Kenya Wildlife Service has responded to Masinga residents complaints over wild animals destroying their crops.
Residents complained that there is some elephants escaping from the forest and destroying their farms.
Speaking on Thursday in Ngetani sub-location Mbeere KWS assistant director, Ngoro Kaindi, said that they have received reports of animal invading farms and they will intervene soon.
“We received reports of elephants invading farms causing massive destruction. Already our officers have launched search over the animals whereabout,” said Kaindi.
He said that residents should also take security measures to avoid easy vulnerability of their property.
“Residents should take it as their responsibility to prevent the animals from destroying their farm products. They should take measures like digging trenches around their farms and tying reflectors in the farms to scare away the animals,” said Kaindi.
However, the officer warned residents against killing the wild animals.
Masinga residents have continuously complained about invasion by wild animals.
