Sotik Member of Parliament Joyce Laboso is confident she will trounce Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto in August polls.
Laboso said that the Jubilee nominations were tougher, compared to the upcoming contest against the National Super Alliance co-principal.
The National Assembly’s deputy speaker beat Julius Kones and Bomet deputy governor Stephen Mutai to clinch the Jubilee Party ticket.
“For me, Jubilee nominations were the tougher battle. This is because South Rift is 100 per cent Jubilee zone and earning the ticket is very competitive. But now that I am running against other parties, I am confident I will win,” said Laboso in an interview with NTV.
Laboso said Governor Ruto, who is also the Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) leader, did a big mistake to join opposition Nasa.
She said that the South Rift region was a Jubilee stronghold.
She said the county residents would be reluctant to support a governor who is "number five" in the Nasa line-up.
Governor Ruto has also exuded confidence in beating her opponet come August 8.
The CCM leader said he will deliver over 1 million votes to Nasa, which he joined a fortnight ago.
