Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has been told to take responsibility and stop blaming the police following injuries he sustained after he was teargassed over a week ago.
National Assembly deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso on Tuesday said the vocal governor provoked the chaos that led to his eventual injury after storming a football match uninvited.
"We were peacefully following the football proceedings between Bunge FC and Silibwet United when the governor stormed the venue uninvited. His entry provoked tension leading to his eventual injury. However, he was very rowdy and that is what could have caused his injury," she said during an interview on Radio Jambo.
Governor Ruto who is still recuperating at a South Africa hospital, has accused the police of using excessive force during the incident that saw his face hit by a teargas canister.
