It is evident that people who don’t smoke strive as much as they can to stay away from the smell of cigarettes. Little do they know that lack of exercise is equally as fatal as smoking.
Exercising has numerous benefits for one’s health and lack of it adverse health effects too. Exercising, besides keeping your weight in check, it makes your bones strong, increase maximum organ functionality and keeps obesity-related diseases such as hypertension and diabetes at bay.
Lack of exercise causes your muscles to shrink away. According to the American Council, lack of enough exercise will break down your muscles and cause fatty tissue deposit around the muscles. Muscles are crucial in burning fat, therefore, if you have a reduced amount of fats, you are likely to gain weight because your metabolism has slowed down.
In a further discovery from the study done by the American Council on Exercise, lack of exercise causes fatty deposits around one’s heart and arteries. The deposits slowly find their way to the heart chambers and valves and eventually cause heart failures and heart attack which is one of the world’s leading killer diseases.
Another effect of lack of body exercise includes the effect of Visceral fat which affects the abdomen. This kind of fat is prone to surrounding heart organs and suffocate them. It poses the risk of gallbladder problems and metabolic syndrome and others.
And finally, KidsHealth.org has found out that constipation is one of the intestinal problems that lack of exercise can do. Exercise speeds up your digestion. Digestion slows down when exercise is not done, paves way for the risk of colorectal cancer as a result of a lot of visceral fat and irregular bowel movements.
