This is allegedly due to lack of housing for the officers.

Subukia Sub-County commissioner Jackson ole Chuta said with the intervention of area member of parliament, 16 officers from anti-stock theft unit were added at Suswa Anti-Stock theft police post, while five additional administration police officers will be deployed to Mbogoini AP post.

However, the AP officers are yet to report to the post as there is a shortage of houses for them.

“The officers are yet to report to Mbogoini due to lack of housing. I am appealing to local leaders to help in finding a solution to this problem,” he said.

Speaking from his office on Monday, Chuta added that the officers will be deployed as soon as the problem is resolved.

This comes barely two weeks after a 70-year-old man was killed by a gang that stole 30 goats from his homestead in Mbogoini Village.

Chuta said: “Security officers who were tracking the stolen goats identified two major roads in a nearby forest that are commonly used by cattle rustlers. These routes lead to Kisanana area where stolen cattle are taken.”

“We are working hand in hand with our counterparts from Rongai and Marigat sub counties to eradicate cattle theft in this area,” the administrator added.

He added that county commissioner, Mohamed Birik, has given the police officers a motorbike and they are expecting to receive a vehicle that will help in dealing with the crime.
