Hundreds of young men and women in Nakuru missed out in the police recruitment exercise after they were turned away for lack of KCSE certificates.
According to Peter Macharia, the officer who presided over the recruitment at Afraha stadium, many of the candidates who were turned away lacked the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination certificates which was one of the requirements.
"There are so many who came but they lacked KCSE certificates and we were forced to send them away," said Macharia.
Some of those who were turned away said the KCSE certificate should not be a requirement in police recruitment.
"Its the person who is going to serve and not the certificate and I think they should focus on the person not the certificate," said Paul Mwaniki.
