Low public awareness and participation are to blame for the lack of service delivery in the counties, Nyamira youth leader Enid Charana has postulated.
In a telephone interview with this writer on Thursday, Charana, who is also eyeing the Itibo ward seat, called for an extensive community awareness and participation in the legislation process within the county, arguing that it will promote accountability and enhance local service delivery.
"There is poor public participation when it comes to important matters that concern the people. And I believe it is one key area that the Nyamira County Assembly has failed," she said.
She exuded confidence that she would beat the incumbent Member of County Assembly Samwel Nyanchama in the August polls, pledging to represent the ward adequately in the assembly.
"I have demonstrated good leadership by serving the community well on various programs that I have initiated. I am confident of winning," she said.
"Irrespective of the political vehicle am using, I am currently concentrating on championing for the policies and ideologies which I believe in," she added.
