A twenty-five-year-old lady died on Wednesday at Ahero in Kisumu County, after allegedly being caught unaware by her sister while she was taking anti-retroviral drugs.
The lady whose name has been withheld died at Ahero Sub-County hospital where she was rushed for treatment.
Speaking to a Hivisasa writer, the mother of the deceased noted that no one in the family knew that the daughter was ill and under medication.
“She was preparing to go to the shop where she works before the incident occurred. I am not sure if being seen by her sister made her collapse, but what I am sure, is no one of us knew if she was sick until then," said Jentrix Alemo, the mother of the deceased.
According to her neighbor, Sally Awino, the shock could have killed the young lady as her well-kept secret was finally out.
“I don’t think anyone knew if she was sick. It’s like she wanted it kept to herself. It just shocked everyone including her family,” Sally told a Hivisasa writer.
The daughter was rushed to Ahero Sub-County hospital to receive treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The doctor said that the deceased could have developed hypertension due to stress.
Funeral plans are currently ongoing at the family home.
