Kiambu District Hospital Chief Medical Officer James Kariuki has moved to allay fears that there could be Ebola in the county.
Kariuki was reacting to an incident where a lady died of a fever with symptoms similar to those of Ebola.
"Medical experts have taken blood samples for tests and analysis. Preliminary results have ruled out Ebola," said Kariuki.
Fear gripped the residents of Kirigiti in Kiambu County after the lady died yesterday when she was being taken to hospital.
According to residents, the lady was oozing blood through the nose and ears.
"She was coughing and spitting blood. When I asked her what was wrong, she told me to take her to hospital," Hannah Wambui, a friend said.
She added, "On the way she started to vomit blood then she fainted and fell. I screamed but when people came, they refused to come close to her. Even after she died they refused to touch her saying she could have died of Ebola."
The area chief is also said to have told the residents to keep off the dead body.
Residents now want the results to be released immediately to allay fears they are living in.
