Lafey OCPD Omukolongolo Bosita has denied allegations that the Kena police harassed residents in a security swoop in Sheikh Burrow location, Lafey constituency.
Reacting to reports from Lafey Member of Parliament that the KDF and police officers from ATPU harassed residents and killed a boda boda operator, Bosita stated that such claims are baseless and incorrect.
"The police did not harass or kill anyone in the security operation that took place on Friday in Sheikh Burrow. The boda-boda man who died in the operation might have been killed in the crossfire between the ATPU police and Al Shabaab militants,” Bosita said.
The statement from the police boss is in direct contradiction with reports from area residents and their legislator who accused the police of victimising innocent civilians.
Lafey MP Isaack Shaaban has condemned the brutal incidents calling on the police and military to pursue their real targets instead of harassing the same people they are expected to protect.
