Lagdera Member of Paliarment Mohamed Mukhtar Shidiye has called on the national government to restore peace, law and order along the volatile Isiolo-Garissa border following the recent spate of killings involving the Borana herders and the Somalis from Garissa.
Speaking in Garissa town, the Lagdera MP said the crisis might further escalate if no action is immediately taken to restore normalcy in the area.
The source of the renewed conflict is said to be the scramble over pasture and watering points, with each of the warring communities accusing the other of allegedly invading its territory.
The latest incident of attacks happened on Saturday morning, when a heavily armed group of Borana militias conducted a raid on Tana village, approximately 70 kilometres from Garbatula town towards Isiolo South, where they shot dead two blood brothers, Abdi Dubow and Yussuf Dubow.
