This comes after a parliamentary committee intervened in the matter.

The company agreed to re hire the employees after holding a meeting with the Parliamentary Committee on Labour and Social Affairs.

Speaking after the meeting with the EPZ Changamwe officials on Friday, the committee chairman, Jones Mlolwa, said they had reached an agreement to rehire the employees.

"We have agreed with the management that all those who had been laid off will be reabsorbed after the 12 lines of the company resume operations," he said.

The employees had resorted to street protests claiming that the company fired them after they joined a workers union.

The claims were however rubbished by Apex Processing Zone, which runs the Changamwe EPZ.

The company maintained that they reached that decision to fire the employees due to failure of their 12 operation lines.
