Laikipia University is set to close five satellite campuses from January next year due to the high expenditure and requirements from Commission for University Education (CUE).
According to the Vice Chancellor (VC) Francis Lelo, among the campuses affected include Nairobi, Embu, Eldoret, Naivasha and Maralal.
"Due to challenges of meeting the requirements of the Commission for University Education, the university has decided to close the branches. However, the university will still issue transcripts till the last semester but lectures and examinations will not be effected after this December," Lelo said.
He further said that all continuing students who are fully registered should relocate to the Nyahururu main campus as from April next year for teachings and examinations.
"Those students who won't make to relocate to Nyahururu campus will be at liberty to join other institutions of their choice," added the VC.
The CUE gave 11 university campuses 90 days to relocate their students to accredited campuses or their main institutions.
Of the 11 institutions, 10 were Kisii University campuses in Western, Nyanza and Rift Valley.
